Each Labor Day weekend for 65 years, locals and visitors celebrate Henderson County’s Mountain Heritage by attending the NC Apple Festival in Downtown Hendersonville. The NC Apple Festival and Street Fair covers nine blocks in Downtown Hendersonville’s Historic Main Street extending from 6th Avenue to Caswell Street. There 200 vendors, including arts and crafts and food vendors, 14 apple growers and NC apples, children’s and youth activities, special exhibits, open houses, food vendors, and continuous live entertainment. The North Carolina Apple Festival is proud to include local apple growers in the Street Fair. You can purchase a few apples or bushels of fresh locally grown apples. Many of the NC Apple Growers also feature items such as fried apple pies, apple cakes, apple butter and apple cider at the Festival.

The King Apple Parade – Labor Day – September 5, 2011
On Labor Day, folks gather for the King Apple Parade, one of the highlights of the NC Apple Festival. The annual parade is a local favorite tradition which includes professional floats, bands, youth groups, antique cars, fire trucks, youth groups, and bands. This year’s King Apple Parade wil be held on Monday, September 5, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. on Main Street in Downtown Hendersonville NC.
